About
Heritage Credit Union's story begins like many credit unions: a means of helping co-workers save and borrow in tough times.
The Oscar Mayer meat production company moved operations to Madison, WI, in the early 1900s. During the struggles of the Great Depression, Adolph C. Bolz, the son-in-law of Oscar Mayer, opened his own billfold to lend the employees of Oscar Mayer a few dollars between paychecks. In October 1934, the practice was made permanent when our credit union was incorporated, and the employees could pool their resources together to help each other out.
Today, Heritage Credit Union is a financial cooperative that helps meet people’s needs for loans, mortgages, checking and savings accounts with simplified banking solutions. Heritage Credit Union members live or work in following counties: Wisconsin- Barron, Chippewa, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Iowa, Lincoln, Milwaukee, Oneida, Ozaukee, Price, Racine, Rusk, Sauk, Taylor, Washington or Waukesha; Illinois--Boone, Jo Daviess, Knox, Lake, McHenry, Stephenson, Warren or Winnebago.
