Friday is National Girl Scout Cookie Day!

Girl Scouts throughout the nation are celebrating Friday, February 8 as National Girl Scout Cookie Day! This special day is in honor of America’s favorite cookies and the five life skills girls learn by participating in the annual program. These skills are goal setting, money management, people skills, business ethics and decision-making.

Locally, Badgerland Girl Scouts sold 1,419,108 boxes of cookies during their Cookie Sale held in the fall.  That’s a lot of cookies! The top-selling flavors locally are Thin Mints, Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties. The brand new flavor, Mango Cremes, made an impressive debut this year - Badgerland Girl Scouts sold nearly 52,000 boxes of the sandwich cookie.

Thirty-eight Badgerland Girl Scouts sold over 1000 boxes of cookies each! The council’s number one top cookie seller  (a Brownie Girl Scout who lives in Holmen) sold 1,646 cookies and earned a trip to Savannah, Georgia – the birthplace of Girl Scouting 101 years ago.

To Celebrate National Girl Scout Cookie Day:
 Badgerland Council will be selling cookies outside Fresh Market at the intersection of University Avenue and Lake Avenue in Madison between 11-2 on Friday. Cookies are also available for purchase at the Girl Scout office at 2710 Ski Lane in Madison.
