Masterworks II - Márquez & Meyers
Showcasing one of the world’s most esteemed violinists, Anne Akiko Meyers, Márquez & Meyers transcends time with works of Baroque elegance and vibrant contemporary rhythms. Meyers will join the orchestra to perform the riotously colorful violin concerto Fandango based on Mariachi music, which was written for her, and for which she received a Grammy nomination for her live recording with the L.A. Philharmonic. Opening the concert is Alessandro Scarlatti’s Sinfonie di concerto grosso No. 2 in D, and concluding the evening is a rarely performed early work by Camille Saint-Saëns, Symphony in A major.
