Award winning and legendary Cuban musician Juan de Marcos is the UW-Madison Arts Institute's Interdisciplinary Artist in Residence for Fall 2015. During his residency he will present a series of lectures on Afro-Cuban music. Topics covered in this lecture will include: The peasant folk music; Punto Cubano; Fijo, Corrido, Cruzado, Espirituano, Camagueyano; Tonada Menor; the Cuban Songbook; songwriting and its evolution; traditional Trova; Filin (feeling); Nueva Trova
