Applying Professional Scrum (APS) is Scrum 101
Event Description:
The Applying Professional Scrum (APS) class is designed for individuals new to Scrum or those seeking a deeper understanding of Scrum accountabilities, artifacts, and events. Going beyond Scrum 101, this highly interactive course emphasizes practical application over theory, allowing participants to engage in hands-on learning experiences within a controlled environment.
Ideal for developers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, managers, leaders, and beginners seeking an introduction to Scrum foundations, this class is an excellent opportunity for teams to enhance their collective understanding. Fully remote and delivered through two full-day sessions, the APS class will take place on the weekend of December 9-10, 2023, from 9:00 AM CST - 5:00 PM CST each day, with active discussion encouraged throughout.
Combining instruction with team-based exercises, the APS course provides foundational knowledge and practical skills to work effectively with Scrum. Participants work in Scrum Teams, engaging in a series of Sprints to experience how the Scrum framework enhances value delivery compared to traditional methods. By using Scrum while learning Scrum, attendees gain firsthand insights into its benefits and learn to address real-world problems using agile ways of working.
The course includes a valuable opportunity to attempt the globally recognized Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification exam at no additional cost. Through the APS class, participants not only learn Scrum concepts but also understand how to apply Scrum effectively in their work environments.
Throughout the class, the focus is on applying Scrum in a practical manner. By leveraging Scrum events, accountabilities, artifacts, and principles during team exercises, common missteps and misunderstandings are highlighted, enabling participants to develop an awareness of associated symptoms and effective remedies. This emphasis on practicality equips attendees with the skills and insights to not only grasp Scrum but also excel in its application.
Included in the APS class are two days of expert instruction, a free attempt at the PSM I certification exam, a comprehensive course workbook, and access to the full slide deck and supplementary materials used during the course. Additionally, participants may be eligible to claim 14 Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Units (PDUs) upon attending the APS class, further enhancing their professional growth.
After completing the APS course, participants will receive an exam codefor the PSM I certification exam, valid for one attempt. Those who take the exam within 14 days after completing the course and unfortunately do not achieve the required 85% passing score will be offered a one-time free resit opportunity.
