Event Description:
The Business Forum cordially invites area residents and business people to the 15th anniversary of the ATHENA Award Celebration at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center on March 13, 2012. The ATHENA Award® Program will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a reception, followed at 6:00 p.m. with the dinner and Award ceremony.
 
This celebration event recognizes Madison area individuals that have provided opportunities to women in the community to allow them to reach their full leadership potential.  Eight nominees will be recognized at this year’s event and one of them will receive the 2012 ATHENA Award.
 
The speaker and Mistress of Ceremonies is Madison’s own Leigh Mills of NBC 15’s evening news. She will be recognizing the past 14 recipients of the ATHENA Award in a very special tribute, followed by the announcement of this year’s ATHENA Award Recipient.
 
Nominees this year include: Christi Andringa, President, Candringa! Productions, LLC;
Angela B. Bartell, Mediator, Arbitrator, Reserve Judge, Bartell Dispute Services; Shiva Bidar-Sielaff, Director, Community Partnerships & Interpreter Services, UW Health; Jenni Collins, Executive Director, Madison Public Library Foundation, Inc.; Janet Amundsen Gietzel, Executive Director, Madison Community Foundation/A Fund for Women; Jaimes Johnson, Director of Community & Campus Relations, UW Credit Union; Lisa McGlynn, Director of Nursing, Attic Angel Place, Inc.; and Ruth Ann Schoer, Director of Major Gifts,The Salvation Army of Dane County.
 
Proceeds from the event go to The Business Forum Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that awards scholarships to high school students and returning adult women who attend college in Wisconsin.  Since this event began in 1998, The Business Forum Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships.
 
Individual tickets are $75, corporate tables of 8 are $750, and non-profit tables of 8 are $600. The Business Forum is a local professional women’s organization that fosters the personal and professional growth of its members and other women through networking, scholarships, mentoring and community involvement.
